NRP in Edinburgh

The NRP Programme in Edinburgh began in 2013 and became the UK’s largest programme by volume in 2023.

NRP now accounts for 60% of elective liver transplants performed in Edinburgh and the team is expanding further in 2024 with a dedicated on call rota of 8 consultant transplant surgeons, 6 advanced perfusion specialists and 2 independent transplant senior fellows.

With 76 NRP retrievals last year and projected activity of 100 NRP retrievals for 2024-25, in addition to a weekly in-house training programme, the centre offers unparalleled fellowship training and regularly hosts international visitors.
